Location Artà is located in the northeast of the island of Mallorca, around 60 km from the island's capital, Palma. More than half of the municipal area is occupied by the Massís d'Artà, the highest and most compact massif of the eastern mountain ranges of the Serres de Llevant.
The municipal area is located on the western part of the Artà peninsula and borders on the Bay of Alcúdia (Badia d'Alcúdia) in the west and on the open Mediterranean Sea in the north, opposite the neighboring island of Menorca.

The sandy beach s'Arenal de sa Canova with extensive dunes is located directly on the border to the municipality of Santa Margalida in the district of Son Serra de Marina. Further east between s'Estanyol and es Caló are steep cliffs and alternating gorges with small sandy beaches.
